ENTRY IS A COMPETITIVE 2 STAGE PROCESS
Stage One: the application
- Fill in the application form.
- Get two letters of recommendation
Academic or business related only - Submit a creative portfolio. Present only your best works. It could be a single project. It needs to be creative but could be as broad as interiors, architectural project, product design, textile design graphic design or fashion design) showcasing interest in Interior Design.
Applicants with no portfolio will be required to submit a creative challenge in order to evaluate their creative potential. This involves putting together a Powerpoint document presenting the following: good design vs bad design:
- By selecting an image of a beautifully designed object, building or interior, the candidate should explain, in 4-6 bullet points, why this design is successful :i.e materials, proportion etc...
- In contrast, the candidate should select an image of a badly designed object, building or interior and should demonstrate in the same manner the design failure of the piece selected.
Please note that applications from students returning to education are welcomed. INSIGHT takes into consideration alternative equivalent qualifications and relevant work experience.
Stage Two: the interview
Applicants required to submit a Creative Challenge will submit their presentation during the interview.
AGE REQUIREMENT
Prospective students must be at least 18 years old.
ENGLISH LANGAGUES REQUIREMENTS
All classes will be taught in English. Applicants whose first language is not English must prove their proficiency in written and spoken English. The standard English Language requirement for entry is IELTS 6+.
However INSIGHT will provide the help of Cantonese/Mandarin teaching assistant to tailor the needs of local students.
INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
Subject to Hong Kong Border agency regulations, we will welcome applications from students who reside outside Hong Kong. International students must obtain the necessary visa that will allow them to study in Hong Kong for the duration of the course.
SCHOLARSHIPS
There are two INSIGHT scholarships that are intended to assist talented students who would not otherwise be in a financial position to undertake the course. Scholarships are awarded at the discretion of the school admissions committee and are only available for the students applying for the one-year Diploma course.
