Our architect teacher Ulrich Geissler: “I had fun teaching today !” ( training students to draft plans and elevations during Introduction to Interior design course).That’s what we do at Insight school : Happy teachers make happy students…

All our drawing classes are taught by practising architects who teach Interior design students to be skilled interior architects drawings plans, elevations and sections by hand first before tackling 2D and 3D programs. We believe that interior design students should be taught architectural drawings by proper architects rather than Interior designers as they need to be rigorous and thorough when drawing plans, technical and detailed drawings. At Insight school we have a team of architects teachers who like Ulrich like to share their knowledge. Once the architectural foundations are strong students could then tackle the second stage of their training and concentrate on Materials, furniture sourcing, history of styles and business practice.

Open day on Saturday 17th of May at Insight school in Hong Kong : prospective student came to visit our premises and enquired about our short courses, part time programs and our full time diploma. They had the opportunity to meet some of the teachers. Some students enquired about sustainable design course with our specialist Catherine Touzard author of “Going green in Hong Kong” , others chatted with our lighting teacher in our in-house lighting studio sponsored by the leading light supplier Zumtobel and learned about lighting design tips. Our teacher Suzy Anetta explained materials and special finishes to interested students in our materials library . And some future students played around with our interactive lecture chairs in one of the classrooms. Don’t worry, your time will come !

Presenting the school to Florence Hui Hiu-fai, Under Secretary for Home Affairs at Art Education fair today in Hong Kong.

Insight school at Art Education Fair in Hong Kong

Anthea Mak the organiser behind the Artmap education fair came to our booth with Florence Hui Hiu-fai. We explained how Insight school is operating in Hong Kong, offering part time and full time programs with a very practical training revolving around real life case studies. We also underlined the importance of creativity, “outside of the box” and “independant thinking”. The Under Secretary shared our vision of a well rounded and practical Interior Design education at the Art Education fair visit.

Jodi’s put together a very successful mood board conveying a sense of serenity for the “introduction to interior design course” Big Wave Bay house project. The client asked for subdued colours, natural materials and Jodi’s mood board is the perfect starting point for her project.
