COURSE DETAILS

This course will teach you how to develop and design unique commercial interiors, ranging from hotels, bars, restaurants and workspaces. The course also explores areas fundamental to commercial interiors like branding, lighting, materials, and the practicalities of designing inspiring commercial environments.

You will graduate with a qualification that gives you both strong links to the industry and is endorsed by it.

The Commercial certificate will train students to have an aesthetic and creative eye as well as practical skills. At Insight, learning takes place through real-life projects brought to the school by renowned retail chains, prestigious hospitality firms and well established corporate key players.

Students are taught by the in-house teaching team while inspirational lectures are given by well-established figures within the interior design industry.

The Commercial Interiors Certificate program is delivered full-time over 18 weeks.

PROJECT WORK

Learn the INSIGHT way around Three real-life commercial projects!

Three commercial design projects (hotel, restaurant, retail, office or education)
The projects will be brought to the school by industry key players (retail chains, property developers etc..). Students will have the opportunity to interview and present their final presentations to the clients who will play a key part in assessing the student’s work.

PROGRESSION

Upon successful completion of the Commercial Interiors Certificate, on top of the Residential Interiors Certificate you will have the opportunity to apply for an internship with one of INSIGHT's industry partners, giving you key contacts in the interior design industry and material for your professional portfolio.

The Commercial Certificate combined with both the Insight industry internship and the Residential Interiors Certificate will account for the Insight Interior Design Diploma.

REQUIREMENTS

INSIGHT welcomes applications from talented school graduates, mature students and international students. The specific entry requirements are provided below:

  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old
  • Applicants should demonstrate a basic knowledge of AutoCad, SketchUp and Photoshop 
  • ​Submission of a design portfolio (6-10 pieces of original creative work)

Applicants without portfolio will be invited for an interview and will be asked to undertake a Creative Challenge.

English language ability must also be competent and a minimum score of 6.5 on the International English Language Testing System www.ielts.org or its equivalent is required.

Students may be asked to undertake an interview.

Students are expected to have a laptop for use during their studies.
