How has the past shaped and influenced 20th century design? In this course, we’ll answer this question and more as we explore the history and styles of 20th century European furniture.

  • Explore the key styles of European furniture, from arts and crafts to the present day
  • Understand the different forms and functions of furniture and where they fit in each decorative movement
  • Examine decorative techniques, such as veneering, marquetry and gilding
  • Discover the work of key masters such as Frank Lloyd Wright, Hector Guimard, Charles Rennie Mackintosh, Eileen Gray, Jacques Emile Ruhlmann, Hans Wegner, Charles Eames, Piero Fornasetti and many others
